Today (July 5th), MSI introduces three new SPATIUM series NVMe SSDs, named the M370, M470 and M480. Two of them are PCIe Gen 4-capable, while one is limited to Gen 3 speed. All drives are in M.2 2280 form factor only.

The SPATIUM M480 can achieve maximum sequential read/write speeds of 7000 MB/s and 6850 MB/s, via the PCIe 4.0×4 interface. Lower capacity drives will drop to as low as 6500 MB/s and 2850 MB/s (500 GB). Random IOPS performance sits at around 650,000 for read and 700,000 for write. MSI does not disclose the manufacturers and models of the memory controller and NAND flash. Looking at the specifications, we suspect the popular Phison PS5018-E18 controller is used.

You can choose to have the M480 in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB. The SSD is provided with a 5-year warranty, and has a rated MTBF of 1.6 million hours. For endurance, it ranges from 350 TBW to 1400 TBW. MSI has yet to announce the pricing and availability.
